POLICIES

Annual Dance Concert

Valley Dance Theatre will put on an annual concert to close each dance year and celebrate the students' hard work, talents and learned abilities. This is an exciting and rewarding part of each dancer's year and we strongly urge everyone to participate. If your child will not be participating, written notice is required as soon as possible. Students who do not perform will still learn the choreography with the rest of the class.

Costumes will be billed in November and must be paid for by the due date in order to avoid the minimum $20 late fee (per costume).

In order to participate in the performance, a student must be present for dress rehearsal and have a $0 balance on their account. A $35 performance fee will be due with February tuition ($15 for each additional sibling). This fee helps cover the cost of the theatre, lighting and sound crew, and other expenses associated with a large production.

Dress rehearsal will be May 27, 2009 and the performance will be May 28, 2009.

TUITION/PAYMENT
A nonrefundable registration fee of $25 is due at the time of registration ($10 for each additional sibling). This fee applies to administrative and insurance costs and will secure a place in the class for your child.

Tuition is due on the 1st of the month. A $10 late fee will be assessed after the 10th of the month. Statements will be mailed only to delinquent accounts. Returned check fee is $25.

Tuition rates are based on the duration of the dance year. A tuition month is based upon a 4 week average. When 5 lesson weeks occur within a month, these extra lessons will be used to offset holidays, inclement weather, etc., concluding in a balanced tuition. No refunds or deductions will be given if a child misses class for any reason. Missed classes may be made up by attending any class of the student's assigned level or one level below - check with the office for possible makeup classes. Lessons missed must be made up or forfeited.

If only 1 student shows up for class, the class time will be shortened to 30 minutes.

Tuition is continuous to the end of the dance year unless Valley Dance Theatre receives written notification that a student is withdrawing from the school.

Tuition is prorated only at the discretion of the director, as in the case of severe illness or injury. Family discounts are offered. Please ask the office for details.

STUDIO CALENDAR/CLOSINGS
Classes for the 2008-2009 year will begin August 4th and conclude Friday, May 22nd.

VDT will be closed for the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, Memorial Day.

In the case of inclement weather, we will follow the direction of the Huntsville City Schools. If schools close, VDT will close and reopen when schools reopen.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP

Students should be dropped off not more than 10 minutes prior to class and picked up immediately afterward. VDT does not provide supervision outside of class.
CLASS ETIQUETTE
Dancers are expected to be well prepared for class. This includes appropriate dance attire and hairstyles (listed under classes offered). No jewelry is to be worn in any class with the exception of earring studs. Please leave valuables at home. Only water bottles may be brought into class. Dancers who are more than 15 minutes late may be asked to observe rather than participate, in order to avoid injuries.

COMMUNICATION

As class time is limited and we wish your child to get the fullest benefit of every lesson, please do not interrupt the class. If you have a question/concern, leave a message with the office or set an appointment and we will address it as soon as possible. Classes must begin and end punctually - please do not detain the teachers between classes. Please feel free to watch class through the viewing windows at any time.
